Core Concepts

This guide describes the core concepts used to structure Tilia Pay API data. Understanding these core concepts will make it easier to work with our resources and build integrations with the Tilia Pay APIs.

Core resources

The core resources within Tilia Pay are:

  • Accounts
  • Wallets
  • Payment Methods
  • Invoices
  • Payouts

It's helpful to understand what these terms mean within our platform and how they relate to each other.

An Account represents an end-user who wants to perform a transaction, such as buying or selling digital goods.

Each Account is associated with one or more Wallets. Each wallet is associated with one type of currency, which can be a fiat currency or in-game tokens. Additionally, user wallets are linked to a Payment Method.

There are also special wallets associated with your organization, which are not linked to payment methods, known as Head of State (HoS) wallets.

There are two basic types of transactions in Tilia Pay: Invoices and Payouts.

  • An Invoice forms the basis for all purchase transactions within Tilia Pay.
  • A Payout is a special type of invoice, used to transfer funds from a user's Tilia Pay wallet to an external account.

With the exception of zero-dollar orders, most transactions require a payment method, such as a credit card, PayPal account, or Tilia Pay wallet balance.
